‘새빛’의 찌릿한 감각 The Electric Jolt of Saebit

이 작업은 격주로×아마도Lab의 워크숍 시리즈 <n개의 모닥불>에서 진행된 관람자 심층 인터뷰, 《제11회 아마도애뉴얼날레_ 목하진행중》 관람자 ‘새빛’ 편에서 시작되었다.

인터뷰 참여자 ‘새빛’은 ≪제11회 아마도애뉴얼날레_ 목하진행중≫에서 곽기쁨 작가의 수어에 대한 작품 (<~하는 중>)을 보고, 수어 사용자들의 언어 감각을 신체적으로 ‘이해하며’ 가슴에 ‘찌릿’한 감각을 느꼈다 고 말했다. 일상에서 그런 감각을 언제 느꼈는지 묻자, 그는 작곡 레슨에서 교수님에게 어렵게 질문을 했 다가 친절한 설명을 얻어 ‘이해받는’ 느낌이 들었을 때였다고 답하며, 그 순간을 떠올렸다. 그리고 그 찌릿한 몸 감각을 드로잉으로 번개 형태로 그렸다.
‘새빛’의 몸 감각과 이야기는 서로 다른 요소들이 하나의 의미 구조 안에서 동질성을 갖고 연결되는 성좌 의 구조로 해석될 수 있다. 예술 작품을 통해 다른 몸 을 ‘이해하는’ 감각과, 일상에서 자신이 ‘이해받는’ 감각이 교차하고 연결되는 방식이다. 이러한 감각의 구조를 아코디언 북 형식으로 시각화하고자 했다.
During an interview, the participant Saebit described an experience at the exhibition The 11th Amado Annualnale. After encountering Gwak Gippeum’s work on sign language (In the Process of ~), she said she felt an electric jolt in her chest as she experienced an embodied understanding of sign language.
When asked when she had felt a similar sensation in everyday life, she recalled a moment during a composition lesson. After struggling to ask a difficult question, she received a kind explanation from her professor and felt that she was truly understood. As she remembered that moment, she drew the bodily sensation of the jolt in the form of a lightning bolt.
Saebit’s bodily sensation and narrative can be understood as a constellation of sensations, in which different elements come together within a shared structure of meaning. The sensation of understanding another body through an artwork intersects with the sensation of being understood in everyday life. This structure of sensation is visualized in the form of an accordion book.
